Berlin

We took a drive around Berlin at mid-day to get an impression of this large and impressive city with its cultural, political, and historical landmarks.

We also had a chance to grab a bite to eat with my friend Joerg, an old law school friend and Berliner living and working as an attorney in the city.

Interesting drive. Looks like a typical big city but then you have these areas of amazing history.

NOTE: Hard to read the type on video because of background. If you have the choice of a bolder font I think would help.

I couldn't tell if the GPS voice was in german of english? Have you been happy with directions it is giving to this point in journey? I think it's a Tom Tom?

Question about shift indicator, I almost bought one but stalled at looks, is it pretty accurate?

Still muggy here but has cleared up, at least in Altadena area.

rb,

I really like Berlin. It's a really interesting city with many angles to explore.

Sorry about the font, the downsized YouTube version loses a bit of quality.

The GPS is set for UK English. I have used the US, Dutch, French, and Italian voices at different stages of the journey... usually to get the correct street name pronunciations and because I get bored hearing the same voice all the time and enjoy using the different languages.

The TomTom has performed admirably.

I hardly use the shift indicator to be honest, especially on US roads. I have glanced at it a few times while powering down the autobahn. The shift indicator can be tailored to whatever rpms you desire at the time of installation. I just went with the stock pattern and in daily driving usually only one or two lights ever light up. Not the most useful JCW item, if anything because it is not in the driver's direct line of sight.

Gawd I wish I could speak another language or 2 but it will never happen.

As far as the font goes, I was just noting it for your reference.

Nice to hear, hear the the GPS works well. May have to get one for my wife as she's continually lost just in LA, or for the next visit to Holland and such.

Interesting to hear your views on the shift indicator. I almost bought one but as I said the look of it stopped me and where it mounted also didn't like.

In my off road racing days we had very few gauges, mainly a long black tube with a red light at the bottom of it staring you in the face... "RED ON" meant your day was done. Not a lot of time to check gauges or even be able to see them except on long power line roads but then the concern was mainly looking in your mirrors for the faster classes, like class one stuff. They don't wait for you to move over they would MOVE you over! Mini-Mag speed 105 class 1 trucks and buggies 120+.

Well I hope this trip has been all you thought it would be and more.
